Match summary

Manchester City visit the Wanda Metropolitano Stadium with a 1-0 aggregate advantage.

These results were achieved by Man City when they hosted Atletico Madrid at the Etihad Stadium in the first leg of the Champions League quarter-finals last week.

The only goal for Man City at that time was recorded by Kevin De Bruyne. The first shot in this match belongs to Man City.

However, Ilkay Gundogan’s efforts were not enough to threaten Atletico Madrid goalkeeper Jan Oblak. Gundogan’s shot hits Geoffrey Kondogbia and goes wide on the right side of the goal.

Gundogan again contributed to creating chances for Man City in the 10th minute by executing a corner.

The ball was then met with a John Stones header, but the Man City defender’s efforts were yet to bear a goal after the round leather just crossed the crossbar.

Chaos broke out in Atletico Madrid’s penalty area in the 29th minute and Man City came close to scoring the opener. Starting from Riyad Mahrez’s pass to Kyle Walker who continued it to Ilkay Gundogan.

The German player released a flat kick that hit the right post of the goal.

De Bruyne then tried to capitalize on the rebound but the ball hit the body of the Atletico Madrid player.

Until the referee blew the whistle, no goals were created from either side. The first half of Atletico Madrid vs Man City ended 0-0.

Atletico Madrid appeared more aggressive in the second half. The team nicknamed Los Rojiblancos had a chance in the 46th minute. Koke provided feedback to Antoine Griezmann who stabbed into the penalty box while being overshadowed by Man City defender Aymeric Laporte.

However, Griezmann’s shot deviated from the target after the ball was blocked by Laporte. Joao Felix met Llorente’s cross, but his efforts were unable to open the scoring for his team.

Atletico Madrid almost scored through Griezmann’s kick two minutes later. Renan Lodi provided a cross from the left which Joao Felix passed to Griezmann.

The French player then fired a shot which unfortunately went wide on the right side of Ederson’s goal. Substitute Rodrigo De Paul almost scored for Atletico Madrid in the 70th minute. Opportunities were created starting with Joao Felix’s movement on the right and giving the ball to Llorente.

Llorente then passed the round skinny to De Paul who curled in a curling shot but his shot went wide on the right.

Four minutes before the game was over, Atletico Madrid got a golden opportunity. Matheus Cunha fired a shot from inside the penalty box which was blocked by John Sones.

The situation earned Atletico a corner, but Ederson was able to make a save.

Riots between Atletico and Man City had occurred in the last minute after Phil Foden fell after a duel with Felipe.

Another Atletico player Stefan Savic then approached Foden and tried to stop his opponent from rolling over. It caused tension between the two teams.

Referee Daniel Siebert then gave a second yellow card for Felipe which made him have to end the game early. The scoreboard did not change until the game ended. Manchester City ensured the move to the semifinals after winning 1-0 on aggregate.
